N*WHY*CEE

I just got home from a trip to New York. My friend called me about 24 hours before she was flying out from Southern Cal and asked if I could come with her, as her other friend, who had originally planned to go, had circumstances come up at the last minute and she couldn't go.

At first it was to be 5 days long, but then when my friend got up the courage, she said it was really 7 days if that was ok with me. Ummmmm....yeah!!! :)

So I packed like I always do - late into the night - and very carefully to make sure I had clothing choices. Yes, I'm a dork, but that's the way it was. We drove to Long Beach Airport at 5 o'clock in the morning. I had gone to bed at 4 AM. No advertisement here, but let me say this......Jet Blue beats the he%% out of Southwest. Nice seats, nice TV's, nice snacks, and nice steward/esses - or the new politically correct word is Flight Attendant. (I know this from a former brother-in-law who was one for United - nuff said)

We stayed in an old building made into a newer hotel - lots of character, but not much room. That stay was accentuated by the, um, woman (and that's putting it nicely) who would sit next to me in the "business room" on the other computer, conducting her "business". I knew she was a bit skanky just to look at her, albeit she was very nice, but when I picked up my printed pages of mapquest directions, the page on the bottom was hers, a Craig's list advertisement under "erotica" and I am pretty sure those photos were NOT of my lovely business office companion (ok ok, I did go over to HER computer when she left and looked up history and she had downloaded them from "hot latinas", so there!) and soon enough her phone began ringing and she made no attempt to cover her loud voice when she mentioned prices for an hour and an half-hour. It took nothing for me to realize that at THOSE prices (and yes she mentioned some unmentionables) she could NOT afford our hotel. Uh-uh, no way!

Turning her in - for not being a guest of the hotel, NOT for doing her business in the business office, endeared me to the office staff. They thought it was alternately a great favor that I had done, and a great laugh that I had given them.

Just doing MY job. :)
